Hello! I’m Maric Elaine Salocker, a sophomore at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Currently I am studying news, digital media production, and graphic design.
Graduating top 15% of my class at Saint Edmond High School in 2015 I had received many honors. This includes one of the two most prestigious awards upon graduation, the Most Outstanding Senior Girl. I had not only excelled in the classroom, but also with service and extracurricular activities. By the end of high school, I had completed over +60 hours of community service hours and held many positions in organizations. I was Student Body Secretary, National Honor Society Vice President, Band Vice President, and Track and Field Captain. I also ran at state track and participated in state cheer my senior year.
Having been exposed to many opportunities in high school, I have grown to love creating and editing short films, whether comedy or school related projects. I am a major advocate for social media, and love staying involved and giving back.
What I’m Doing Today
At Drake, I am involved in Kappa Kappa Gamma, Outdoor Leadership Club, Drake Broadcasting System, and the Women’s Club Volleyball Team.
My specialties include filming, editing, writing, social media, and public speaking.
Something that I am very passionate about is traveling. The first plane I traveled on was when I was 5 weeks old. As of today, I have visited 22 states and 8 different countries. Many of these states, such as Georgia, Illinois, and Florida, I come to visit multiple times every year.
Beginning January of 2017, I plan to study in Finland for several weeks and then begin classes at the University of Richmond in Rome, Italy until the middle of May. Once classes have finished, I plan to stay in Europe several weeks until I return to the United States in June.
